WhatsApp Spam Messages

WhatsApp becoming the most popular app on the android market is now facing a regular spam message problem leading to  false information to the whatsApp user. Whatspp user now days are getting these spam messages almost everyday. One of the famous spam messages created by some Chinese business cooperation asking user to confirm there whatsApp account by sending the same messages to all there whatsApp friend or else they will lose their whatsApp account was one of the most dangerous spam message which made the users in fear that they will not be able to continue the whatsApp service.

Mostly users were not aware of these messages and this made them forward these messages to their whatsApp friends. Viewers of techwhatsApp.com also mailed us some of the spam messages and asked to confirm the news. The most common span messages shared by the viewer included the following message.

Hello, we are Andy & John, director of MSN and now also whatsApp, this message is to inform all of our users that we have only 530 accounts available for new phones, and that our servers have recently been very congested, so we asking for your help to solve this problem. We need our active users to forward this message to every single person in your contact list in order to confirm our active users that use WhatsApp, if you do not send this message to all your contacts to WhatsApp, then your account will remain inactive with the consequence of losing all your contacts.

This message was circulated in many of the countries including United States, United Kingdom, South Africa, Indonesia, India, Kuwait and many more. TechwhatsApp.com confirmed this news that this message was fake and was created by group of students from china in order to interrupt the whatsApp service.

One more spam message made entry in last February saying to share the message to atleast 25 people  and your whatsApp will have 50 new smileys. Although, despite being told several times that the messages are fake, users can’t help but get alarmed on receiving these messages.

i have received sms texts from different numbers (about 6 times) in the past two days saying the following:

“Hello from WhatsApp. Your code is xxx-xxx but you can simply tap on this link to verify your device: v.whatsapp.com/366308”

    any ideas?

  2. Sam says:

It could be a spam message trying to steal your personal information. You need to drop an email to WhatsApp customer service asking them, if they had send this email. However to me, it looks SPAM, do not tap on the link as it can be risky. It may steal your identity or affect your phone with a virus.

From Saturday morning whatsapp will become chargeable. If you have at least 10 contacts send them this message. In this way we will see that you are an avid user and your logo will become blue (

Farah – This is totally a spam and I have written a post about it few days back. Ignore this message and everything will be same as it used to be. Whatapp doesn’t charge anything apart from yearly subscription.

I think that the spam in Whatsapp is ironic, considering that bots come onto my forums several times a day spamming ads for Whatsapp.
